Sleiman: Long Live Saudi Arabia!!

Just few hours after Grand Mufti Mohamamd Qabbani was attacked in al-Khasheqji Mosque in Beirut Sunday, the Lebanese people heard that their president was to deliver a speech in which he would address them.

The Lebanese thought that their head of state will tackle the latest developments, condemn the attack on  Mufti or at least denounce the deepest Michel Sleimandivisions among the different political factions in the country.

However, Sleiman was appearing to announce the Saudi Kingdom's intention to extend a three billion US dollars aid to the Lebanese Army.

He indicated that the Saudi aid shall allow for providing the Army with weapons by the French side, adding that the issue is being discussed between the Saudi Monarch and French President during their summit meeting on Sunday.

"The Saudi aid to the Lebanese Army is the largest in the history of Lebanon," noted Sleiman.

Talking about Starco blast, Sleiman “expressed his deepest condolences to the families of all fallen victims while wishing those injured a speedy recovery.”
But he did not mention the attack on Mufti Qabbani during the funeral of a boy who was martyred in Friday attack.

"Lebanon is threatened by sectarian conflict and extremism," Sleiman only said.
He concluded his address by saying: “Long live Lebanese army. Long live Saudi Arabia. Long Live Lebanon.”
